Stag weekend itineraries: three sample plans, hour by hour

What a stag weekend actually looks like on the clock: a Brighton overnight, two nights in Newcastle and three nights in Prague, each built on one of our real trips.

Knowing what to book is one thing. Knowing how it fits into a weekend, so nobody's karting with a hangover or eating dinner at midnight, is another. Here are three sample plans, each built on one of our trips, with the timings that work.

The times are an example. Your own plan sets the real ones around your arrival and the activity slots. Prices are per person from, checked in October 2026.

The rules every good stag itinerary follows

  • Active things first, drinks after. Karting tracks and shooting ranges turn away anyone who's been drinking.
  • One headline activity a day is plenty. Two at most.
  • Eat properly before the big night. Late food runs thin in most cities.
  • Leave gaps. Check-in, showers and getting twenty people out of the door all take longer than you think.
  • Make the last morning easy: a late breakfast, bags stored, no early starts.

Plan 1: a Saturday overnight in Brighton

Built on Brighton Overnight, from £95 pp: one night in central accommodation, one daytime activity (bubble football or an escape room) and a guided bar crawl through the Lanes. Good for a group who can only spare a Saturday.

Saturday

  • 11.30am: arrive at Brighton station and walk downhill to drop bags. From London Victoria, the fastest trains take under an hour.
  • 1pm: bubble football. Teams, chaos, the groom in the biggest bubble.
  • 3pm: fish and chips on the seafront, then the pier.
  • 5pm: check in, shower, change into something a club will let in.
  • 7pm: dinner in the Lanes. Book a table ahead for a group; we can add it to your plan.
  • 9pm: guided bar crawl through the Lanes.
  • Late: on to West Street or the seafront bars, in fours and sixes at the door.

Sunday

  • 10.30am: breakfast, check out, a walk on the beach, home.

Plan 2: two nights in Newcastle

Built on Newcastle Classic, from £270 pp: two nights in a three-star hotel inside the nightlife area, go-karting, a cocktail class and a guided bar crawl with club entry. Good for a group who want two big nights with no travel between bars.

Friday

  • 4pm onwards: arrive at Central Station. The hotel is in the nightlife area, so you can walk.
  • 7pm: a relaxed first night. Food and a few pints on the Quayside under the Tyne Bridge.
  • 11pm: the hard core head up the hill to the Bigg Market. Everyone else has an early one; Saturday is the big night.

Saturday

  • 10am: breakfast. Water. More water.
  • 11.30am: go-karting. Heats, then a grand final for the fastest drivers.
  • 2pm: lunch, then back to the hotel.
  • 4.30pm: cocktail class. Everyone makes the groom something terrible.
  • 7pm: dinner. Dress smart if you're heading to the Diamond Strip later.
  • 9pm: guided bar crawl, finishing with club entry.

Sunday

  • 11am: a late breakfast, check out and trains home.

Want more? Newcastle Big Weekend (from £440 pp) swaps the cocktail class for paintballing and adds a booked group dinner and reserved club entry on the main night.

Plan 3: three nights in Prague

Built on Prague Big Weekend, from £555 pp: three nights in a four-star central hotel, return airport transfers, a session at an indoor shooting range, a private boat on the river, a booked group dinner and reserved club entry. Flights aren't included; the group books them.

Thursday

  • Afternoon: land in Prague. Your transfer meets you at the airport and takes you to the hotel.
  • 7pm: first beers. Try tank beer in a beer hall a street or two back from Old Town Square, where it's cheaper and better.
  • Late: keep it sensible. There's a gun range in the morning.

Friday

  • 10am: shooting range. Everyone needs their passport, and nobody can have had a drink.
  • 1pm: a long Czech lunch.
  • 3pm: a walk over Charles Bridge and up to the castle, or a nap. Both are valid.
  • 8pm: the group dinner.
  • 10.30pm: reserved club entry. Remember organised pub crawls are banned after 10pm in Prague, so the late night is on your own terms.

Saturday

  • Late morning: breakfast and a slow start.
  • 2pm: the private boat on the Vltava. The best view in the city, with a drink in hand.
  • Evening: the groom's choice. In summer, the riverbank at Náplavka is where locals drink; in winter, the big sports pubs in the New Town.

Sunday

  • Morning: check out and your transfer back to the airport.

Cheaper alternatives: Prague Classic (from £285 pp, two nights) or Prague Two Nights (from £160 pp).

Adapting a plan

  • For a big group: keep the same shape, but book the dinner and the club entry rather than turning up, and run activities in heats or teams. Our guide to big-group activities has more.
  • For a wet weekend: swap an outdoor activity for an indoor one. Go-karting is often indoors, and bowling, darts and pool or an escape room work whatever the weather.
  • For a mix of ages: make dinner the main event and let anyone head off afterwards without fuss.
  • For a tighter budget: drop a night, not the headline activity.

What usually goes wrong, and how to avoid it

  • Too much in one day. If you're rushing, cut something.
  • Losing people between venues. Share the plan in the group chat, with addresses, and name a meeting point.
  • The door. Big groups get split up or refused. Book where you can and arrive in fours and sixes where you can't.
  • The flight home. Check the time before anyone books a big Saturday night abroad.
