Barcelona Big Weekend

The Barcelona Big Weekend is three nights in an upgraded hotel near the centre, with the water, a long dinner and the late clubs all on the programme. Return transfers from El Prat are arranged, so the group arrives together and nobody is negotiating taxis.

The weekend starts on the water with a private boat charter for the group. The second day ends with a booked group dinner, and because Barcelona eats late, it sets up the night rather than ending it. The third night has a reserved club table, and go-karting outside the city fills the last morning.

Barcelona is a beach city with a proper nightlife attached. Dinner runs late, the bars follow, and the clubs get going from about one in the morning, with the big ones on the beachfront. Dress codes are real at the top end, so warn the group before they pack. Food, drinks and anything the group adds on the night are paid locally. Flights are not included.

Your weekend, day by day

  1. Day 1

Boat party & cruise in Barcelona

    Boat party & cruise

    From about 14:00 · 2.5 hours

Arrival day. The transfer brings the group from El Prat to the accommodation, then the private boat charter in the afternoon, with the boat to yourselves. Trainers or deck shoes and a layer for the water. The evening is free.

    More about this

Barcelona's boats are on the Mediterranean, mostly leaving from the Port Olímpic area, and the season runs roughly March to October. The public party boat lasts two hours with a DJ and drink vouchers; check-in closes 30 minutes before departure, and the on-board bar is cash only. The catamaran barbecue cruise lasts three hours with a swim stop and is shared with up to 80 people. For privacy, a 14-metre catamaran takes up to 28 with a skipper, and smaller sailing boats take 8 to 11, sometimes with a deposit on boarding. Bring swimwear, a towel, sun cream and ID.

You board at a fixed time and the boat runs a set loop, so latecomers are left on the dock. Onboard there is a bar and usually a DJ or a sound system you can plug into. Some are private charters for your group alone, others are shared with other bookings.

What is included varies more here than anywhere else: some are entry only, some include a drinks package, some include food. Get that in writing before you pay.

Deck shoes or trainers, nothing with a heel. It is colder on the water than on land, even in summer, so bring a layer.

  2. Day 2

Group dinner & restaurant in Barcelona

    Group dinner & restaurant

    From about 20:30 · 2 hours

A free day for the beach, then the booked group dinner at one table. Barcelona eats late, so this is the start of the night rather than the end of it. Send final numbers and dietary needs ahead, and dress for the bars afterwards.

    More about this

Group dinners in Barcelona run on Spanish time, with tables normally booked between 7pm and 11pm. The standard is a tapas spread of eight or more dishes in a central restaurant with the first round included, or a three-course Spanish meal or a tapas-and-paella menu with sangria poured throughout. Many packages add guest-list entry to a club afterwards, which makes it a two- to three-hour evening. The club still judges the group at the door, so go easy on the unlimited sangria. Smart casual covers both the restaurant and the club. Send allergies and dietary needs in advance.

A restaurant taking a large group will usually want a set menu, a deposit and final numbers a few days ahead. That is normal and it works in your favour: the food comes out together and the bill is per head rather than an hour of arithmetic.

Tell them about allergies and anyone who does not eat meat when you confirm the numbers, not on the night.

Dress code is the restaurant's. If you are heading to a club afterwards, dress for the club, because the restaurant is the softer door.

  3. Day 3

Club entry, VIP & booths in Barcelona

    Club entry, VIP & booths

    From about 23:30 · 2 hours

The reserved club table: a booth with a host and bottle service, often sold on a minimum spend, so check what the bottles include. The clubs fill from about one in the morning. Dress codes are enforced: no sportswear, no matching shirts.

    More about this

Barcelona's club entry is sold as prepaid entry with a drink included, so there is nothing more to pay at the door. The dress code is the thing to plan around: smart casual, with no sportswear, beachwear, trainers or flip-flops, which rules out what most of the group will have worn all day. Pack proper shoes. ID is checked on everyone, as entry is 18-plus. Clubs here fill late, typically from about 1am, so there is no need to rush dinner, and the biggest venues are along the beachfront.

Standard entry gets the group past the queue on a guest list, which matters because large male groups are the first ones a door turns away. A booth adds a reserved table, a set number of bottles with mixers and a host who looks after the table.

Booths are sold on a minimum spend rather than a flat fee at many clubs, so the bottles you order count towards it. Ask what the minimum is and what it includes before you agree to anything.

Dress code is enforced hard on stag groups. No sportswear, no trainers at some doors, no matching shirts, and nobody visibly drunk gets in regardless of the booking.

  4. Day 4

    Go-karting in Barcelona

    Go-karting

    From about 11:00 · 1 hour

Departure day. Go-karting outside the city in the late morning: a briefing, practice, qualifying and a scored final. Trousers and trainers, and every driver must be sober. Allow for the transfer back to El Prat afterwards.

    More about this

Barcelona's karting tracks are 30 to 40 minutes from the centre, with indoor and outdoor options, so transfers from a city-centre meeting point are worth booking and may be shared with other groups. A standard session is two ten-minute races; the grand prix format adds practice and qualifying before a 12-lap final and takes about two hours, with 10 to 15 drivers per heat. Every driver needs a passport for the insurance, closed shoes rather than sandals, and a clear head, because tracks turn groups away if anyone has been drinking. Book it for the morning, before the beach and the sangria.

You get a briefing, race suit, helmet and gloves, then a session that usually runs about an hour: practice laps, a qualifying run and a scored final. Timing is automatic and the results go on a board, which is where the arguments start.

Indoor circuits run all year; outdoor ones are longer, faster and at the mercy of the weather. Both put a podium and a bottle of something at the end.

Wear trousers rather than shorts, and trainers. There are height, weight and footwear limits at most tracks, and you have to be sober.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Is Barcelona good for a first-time stag organiser?

Yes. The package handles the planning — accommodation, activities and the nights out — so an organiser without stag experience isn't working it out from scratch.

Can we add extra nights in Barcelona?

Tell us what the group has in mind when you enquire and we'll say what's possible for that city and those dates.

What's not included in the Barcelona price?

Whatever isn't listed under a trip's "what's included" — flights, extra drinks, transport beyond what's stated and personal spending are on the group.
